"If there’s one thing I love more than nesting into a new home and making it feel like my own space, it is helping to build the nest, with help from someone who understands the importance of architectural bones and also how to combine serenity and warmth throughout the space. I am now happily living in what will be, I hope, my last home, and am so very lucky to have had Nichole helping me build this nest.
We started with the rather grungy lowest level of a side-split 1980 house that backs onto forested ravines full of birds and the occasional bear; and we added, with input from both Nichole and her architect brother Jason Skladan, 400 square feet. The result has been a 920 square foot suite in which the great room has nine foot ceilings, plus there are two bedrooms, a very cool kitchen, and everything else I could need. The most fun part was working with Nichole on the colours, the fittings, choosing gorgeous tiles… creating spaces for the favourite antique pieces I would bring… the whole process was exciting, and the result even more gratifying than I could have imagined. I love my Sweet Home Suite! Thank you Nichole!"
